2026 Camp Baker Scout Scuba

Welcome to an unforgettable summer adventure at Camp Baker.

You have been invited to join the professional staff and instructional team of Eugene Skin Divers Supply for a fun, exciting, and professionally guided introduction to the world of scuba diving through the Scuba BSA program and a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience.

For many participants, this will be their very first breath underwater—and we believe it should be an experience that is safe, encouraging, confidence-building, and unforgettable.

What Is Scuba BSA?

Scouting America Scuba BSA introduces qualified Scouts BSA members, Venturers, and registered adult participants to the skills, equipment, safety practices, and excitement associated with scuba diving.

The program is designed to:

  • - Encourage healthy aquatics activities that promote fitness and recreation
  • - Introduce participants to the underwater world in a safe and controlled environment
  • - Build confidence through hands-on learning and guided experiences
  • - Create a foundation for those who may later pursue advanced scuba training and certification

The Scuba BSA experience is divided into two parts:

Knowledge Development

Participants begin with an engaging introduction to dive safety, equipment, communication, and the basic skills used during scuba diving activities. Our instructional team explains everything clearly and simply so you always understand what to expect before entering the water.

Water Skills Development

Your in-water session is conducted as a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience in clear, confined water under the direct supervision of certified PADI Instructors and Divemasters.

During this session, participants will practice essential scuba skills including:

  • - Breathing underwater comfortably
  • - Mask clearing
  • - Regulator recovery and clearing
  • - Alternate air source use
  • - Basic underwater movement and buoyancy awareness

Completion of Scuba BSA requirements introduces participants to scuba diving and helps prepare them for future training opportunities. However, Scuba BSA is not a scuba certification program and does not qualify participants to dive independently.

Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience

No previous scuba experience is required.

From the moment you arrive, our team focuses on helping you feel comfortable, informed, and excited about your experience underwater. Whether you are confident and eager or feeling a little nervous, you are exactly where you should be.

Throughout the day, you’ll receive:

  • - Clear and detailed briefings
  • - Hands-on equipment orientation
  • - Patient step-by-step instruction
  • - Personalized coaching in the water
  • - Continuous support from experienced dive professionals

We believe first-time divers deserve more than a rushed experience. We take the time to do things the right way so your first dive feels calm, safe, and enjoyable.

Safety You Can Feel

Your trust matters to us.

Safety is not simply a checklist—it is part of everything we do. Our instructional staff maintains a strong focus on preparation, communication, awareness, and participant comfort throughout the entire experience.

You can expect:

  • - Thorough equipment checks before every dive
  • - Direct supervision from certified professionals
  • - Clear communication and safety protocols
  • - Constant attention to breathing, comfort, and control underwater
  • - Instructors who listen carefully to your questions and concerns

Our goal is simple: help every participant feel prepared, supported, and successful.

Staff Who Truly Care

What makes this event truly special is the people leading it.

The Instructors and Divemasters from Eugene Skin Divers Supply are passionate about introducing new divers to the underwater world. We genuinely enjoy working with first-time participants, and we take pride in creating an atmosphere that is welcoming, patient, and encouraging.

We will:

  • - Explain skills clearly and simply
  • - Help you work through nervousness or uncertainty
  • - Encourage your progress every step of the way
  • - Create an experience where everyone feels included and supported

You are never “just another participant” to us.

See the Difference for Yourself

We also believe in leading by example.

As you observe our staff in the water, you’ll see calm movement, effortless buoyancy, and confident control. These are not just professional skills—they reflect the standard of diving we teach and the experience we want every participant to enjoy.

Important Medical Information Before Participation

Scuba diving is an exciting and rewarding activity, but like all adventure sports, it does involve inherent risks and requires participants to be in appropriate health for underwater activities. Prior to participation in the Scuba BSA / PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, all participants must complete a medical questionnaire through PADI’s online system. In some cases, additional medical clearance from a physician may be required before participating in diving activities. Participants who require physician approval but are unable to obtain the necessary medical signature prior to camp will not be permitted to participate in in-water scuba activities. Participants should also be reasonably comfortable in the water and physically capable of participating in basic swimming and scuba-related activities. Our instructional staff is always happy to answer questions and help participants understand what to expect before entering the water.
